Below you can find some frequently asked translation and interpretation questions. We hope that they will help clear up any doubts that you may have, but if you still have a question to ask, do not hesitate to contact us directly.
1. I need something translated; how can I ask for a translation?
Just send us an email at riverstranslations@riverstranslations.com or use the online form. We will get you a quotation for your translation as soon as possible.
2. How long will my document take to translate?
That’s an impossible question to ask without having the document in question or knowing what type of translation you need. Send us a message with the document you need translating and we will reply with a quotation and an estimated time of delivery.
3. How much will it cost to translate?
Again, it depends. Sworn and technical translations tend to be pricier than general translations. Some languages like Chinese or Dutch also tend to be pricier than English or French. We generally calculate cost per source word as we believe it is the most accurate way of representing the actual effort put into translating a document, as some pages may have next to no content to translate. Send us what you need to translate and into which language you would like to translate it to and we will give you our best quote.
4. Do you do sworn translations?
We work with freelance sworn translators in order to meet your translation needs.
5. How do I pay for my translations?
Payment is made before receipt of the finished translation by bank transfer with proof of payment or via PayPal. Payment methods will be specified in the quotation.
6. What can I expect when ordering a translation?
Your document will be received and examined. The document will be paired with a translator or translators who can carry out the required translation and you will be given a quotation and an estimated date of delivery. If you wish to proceed, you must confirm your desire to proceed with the translation, make the payment and the translation will be delivered upon its completion. The translation will of course be checked and corrected, if needed, before being sent to the customer.
7. How do I receive a sworn translation?
If you wish, we can send you a scanned copy of the translation. However, non-original sworn translations are rarely accepted by public authorities and the online sworn translation signature has still to be implemented properly in Spain. Therefore, the only way to make sure that your translation is accepted by a public body is to present the original copy. This means that you will probably have to be sent the sworn translation by mail, the cost for shipping will be included in the quotation you are given.
8. How can I make sure that the translation will be of a high quality?
By using a qualified experienced translator. We only use qualified translators and all our translations are reviewed after translation to ensure the highest quality possible.
9. What happens if I see a mistranslation or would like something translated in a certain way?
If you have any requests concerning how you want something translated, please send them to us when requesting the translation, so that we can pass on your requests to the translator. However, if we are talking about a sworn translation, the translator may not consider your request on the basis that he or she doesn’t consider the request to be in keeping with what is said on the original document. As a sworn translator is liable for any translation errors, the translator may or may not be able to accept your request.
As far as mistranslations are concerned, do not worry. Send us what needs to be altered and we will change it free of charge.
10. How do I hire an interpreter?
Send us a message with the language combination you will need, some information on the event for which you require an interpreter and the date, time and place for the service, and we will get back to you with our best offer. We may also contact you before giving you a quotation in order to find out more about the event, so that we may better tailor the service to your needs. We will also help guide you through the process of hiring equipment, if you need to hire interpretation booths for the service in question.
